MacDuff Perkins (Duffy) originally hails from Northern Michigan, and grew up sailing and beach-combing along the stunning shores of Lake Michigan.
While studying Chinese Language and Eastern Religions at the University of Michigan, she had the opportunity to travel to Beijing, China, and study at Peking University. After graduation, she went immediately into studying Tibetan Buddhism and the History of Religion at the University of Virginia. As a student, she traveled throughout China, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, and India researching sacred mountain pilgrimage. After graduating, she went on to lead adventure tour expeditions throughout Asia. Duffy received her 200-hour yoga teacher training certification in 2012 and her 300-hour certification in 2017. She teaches yoga, leads domestic and international retreats, and leads yoga certification trainings annually. Her writing is published in Yoga Journal, UpStART Magazine, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, SAIL Magazine, and many others. When she is not teaching, Duffy enjoys reading, long-distance running, and sailing.
A committed Buddhist, Duffy studies the Soto Zen tradition with Sky Above Great Wind sangha in Washington, DC. She lives in Annapolis with her husband and two children.
